Baia Villas
Mandrem, Goa
Six courtyard houses, gathered like a village.
In Mandrem, a lane free of cars runs between the houses, and footpaths join them. Each villa turns inward, wrapped in a U around its own courtyard and pool; four of the six also have a jacuzzi. The forms come from the Portuguese houses of the village, reworked, with buttresses that lean out to shade the walkways.
Each villa has three bedrooms and is booked as a whole. Up to five villas can be booked together. Share your dates and we will reply with the tariff.
Arched windows sit deep in coral walls, and fluted plaster holds the light.

Inside
A covered verandah faces the pool and divides each house in two: living and dining with a built-in bar on one side, the kitchen and a guest bedroom on the other. Upstairs, two bedrooms open onto balconies. The master bathroom has a sunken bath in terrazzo and mosaic.
Black and white triangular tiles on the verandah floor. Timber ceilings in the bedrooms. A mosaic by a Goan artist, and a two-tone peach finish on the walls.
